Pelvic pain

What are pelvic pains?

Pelvic pain is a broad term and may be caused by:

  • Tightness or weakness in the pelvic and trunk muscles
  • Postpartum stress or strain
  • Imbalance of muscles around the pelvis and hip
  • Incorrect sitting and standing postures or frequent pregnancy
  • Some medical conditions that require medical evaluation (according to symptoms)

The assessment helps to identify the most likely cause and develop a suitable and safe plan.

When do you need physical therapy for pelvic pain?

Pelvic pain that worsens with walking or standing

Pain when sitting for a long time or when standing

Lower back pain related to the pelvis

Pain after childbirth or with pregnancy/strenuous activity

Weakness in stability or a feeling of imbalance

Hip stiffness or tightness in the muscles around the pelvis

If the pain persists for more than two weeks or recurs

Important note: If there is sudden severe pain, fever, unusual symptoms, or pelvic pain accompanied by concerning medical symptoms—a medical evaluation is recommended before starting rehabilitation.

Goals of physiotherapy:

Why is home treatment beneficial?

Because pelvic pain is often affected by home routines:

sitting on the couch, carrying a baby, standing in the kitchen, climbing stairs, and sleeping position.

Within the home, we can pinpoint exactly what aggravates the pain and practically modify movements, creating exercises that fit your space and equipment—this speeds up recovery and reduces pain recurrence.
