Osteoporosis

What is osteoporosis?

Osteoporosis means decreased bone density and weakened bone structure, making bones more prone to fracture. It may be asymptomatic for a long time, then manifest as:

  • Fracture after a minor fall
  • Back pain or gradual curvature (especially with vertebral compression)
  • Weakness and sluggishness in movement, along with a fear of falling.

Medical follow-up is important to assess bone density and appropriate treatment, and physical therapy is supportive to improve mobility and safety.

When do you need natural treatment for osteoporosis?

Diagnosis of osteoporosis or low bone density

Fear of falling or frequent falls

Muscle weakness or unstable balance

Back pain or stiffness with reduced mobility

Difficulty standing, sitting, or climbing stairs

A prolonged period of inactivity led to general weakness

Important note: If there is sudden severe pain, suspected fracture, or a hard fall—you should see a doctor immediately before continuing with the exercises.

Goals of physiotherapy:

Why is home treatment beneficial for osteoporosis?

Because the primary goal here is safety and reducing falls inside the home—the most common place for falls.

Inside the home, we train the patient in realistic movement, correct sitting and standing postures, and suggest simple modifications that reduce risk and increase confidence in movement.
