Kyphosis - Children

Pediatric Kyphosis in Children in Kuwait

Kyphosis in children means an increased curvature of the upper back (thoracic spine) that causes a noticeable forward arch or “hump,” with the shoulders and head tilted forward. Sometimes it is postural due to poor posture , and sometimes it is a structural kyphosis that requires closer monitoring.

At Al-Kindy Care, we offer home-based assessment and treatment for kyphosis in children in Kuwait with a safe and age-appropriate plan that focuses on improving posture, strengthening back-supporting muscles, and increasing awareness of correct posture at home and school.

When should physical therapy begin?

A noticeable slouching when the child tries to “straighten up”

Recurring pain in the back or neck

prominent shoulder blade or imbalance in shoulder posture

Gradual deterioration in appearance over months

Having a hunchback with stiffness or lack of flexibility in the back

Important note: A medical evaluation is recommended if severe or persistent pain is present that wakes the child or prevents them from being active.
