Cerebral palsy

What is cerebral palsy?

Cerebral palsy (CP) is a movement disorder resulting from an impact on the brain at an early stage, and may lead to:

  • Muscle tightness or muscle weakness
  • Poor balance and coordination of movement
  • Limitations in some movements or body positions
  • Delay in motor skills (sitting/standing/walking)
and the degree of impact varies from child to child.

When do you need physical therapy for knee osteoarthritis?

Delayed in sitting, standing, or walking compared to his age

Noticeable muscle tightness or stiffness that limits movement

Difficulty with balance or frequent falls

Unsteady gait or on tiptoes

Weakness in hand use or coordination of movements

Difficulty performing simple daily skills

Important note: If the child is seeing a neurologist/orthopedist or uses splints/assistance devices, we coordinate the exercise plan so that it is in line with the doctor’s recommendations and completely safe.

Goals of physiotherapy:

Why is home treatment beneficial?

Because the child is more comfortable and cooperative in his environment, and the exercises become part of his day inside the house (playing, moving between rooms, using the stairs if there are any).

Also, having parents with us helps them understand the correct way to exercise and apply it between sessions, and this is the most important factor in the child’s development.
